A metaphor is a comparison made without using like or as, and with the comparison is implied (implicit). A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase takes on the meaning of another word or phrase to suggest a likeness between the two.
Ray Bradbury’s novel, Dandelion Wine, is a reflection of a young boy’s magical summers. In it, Bradbury uses natural images of a Midwestern summer to convey a sense of childhood innocence and the inevitability of adolescence.
