Problem/Solution Presentation Assignment: How Can Big Data Help Solve a Problem The Assignment: Students will be present about a real problem that can be solved or improved by using big data. This presentation assignment is worth 75 points. You should research and present an example of how big data has helped solve a problem or improve a situation affecting you and/or others. Your presentation will discuss the problem and demonstrate how big data can solve it. This presentation involves research and strict requirements. The Presentation Requirements: Students must present their topic as an individual presentation. Students must consider their audience, purpose, and method of presentation. Students need to use a pattern of organization. Students must use a visual aid. Students may use a variety of sources; however, these sources must be credible. Students must give facts, examples, and details (background information) about their chosen topic. Students must determine the problem. Students must provide a reference or works cited list in the presentation as well as cite their sources throughout the presentation. This presentation should have an Introduction, Body, and a Conclusion. Transitions signals must also be used. The Presentation should be no more than 10 minutes. Students should record themselves giving the presentation. Any format is acceptable. Be sure the presentation is accepted by Canvas. IMPORTANT: Information taken from sources (websites, books, newspapers, etc.) must be cited within the presentation. Consider the following questions to help you organize your presentation: 1) What is the problem or situation? It can be education, community, city, national or international, etc. 2) What kinds of data about it (problem/situation) are available? 3) How did or could big data help improve it?
