For your Mod 4 IAA critique, there is new information for you to consider along with what you have read and written in the IAA discussion boards of previous modules. The new information is a 9-minute video, “How Our Brains Feel Emotion.” In this video, neuroscientist, Antonio Damasio, explains a bit about his theory of emotion. Although you don’t have to write about it, take note of how he explains the evolutionary importance of emotions and how the nervous and endocrine (blood carried hormone) systems are involved. He also explains what a feeling is and how it – specifically feeling an emotion – is different from having an emotion.

Sticking with the idea that different roles/professions (e.g., scientist), activities (e.g., being engaged in scientific inquiry), and knowledge construction can be associated with feelings and emotion, briefly summarize what you thought was most interesting and/or meaningful from the video. Then, for the rest of your critique (remembering the video content and what you’ve read and written in previous IAA discussion areas),write about what your current or aspired profession “feels like” when one is practicing the activities specific to that profession. Include at least a short mention that describes what similarities and/or differences there in that profession compared what you think it means to feel like a scientist.
